Harrison Township Beautification will be hosting its annual Summer Social at one of the community's most historic homes. The Spicer House at 76 S. Main Street is an historic home that was built in 1748 by Jacob Spicer, a prominent colonial landowner and one of the earliest settlers of South Mullica Hill, once known as Spicerville.
In addition to restoring the house, owners Jeffrey Downs Esq. and Steve Clark have furnished the one-acre backyard with a variety of gardens, including rose gardens and shade gardens. The landscaping details in this picturesque yard overwhelm all who visit. The actual home is an amazing showplace that has been renovated keeping the unique colonial character and designed with every little detail of perfection.
Downs and Clark will generously open their home to supporters of Mullica Hill's Beautification Committee, local businesses, and residents of the community. Local food and restaurant owners will provide a variety of specialty trays sure to satisfy every craving imaginable. The menu will also include selections from local wineries and be complimented with other spirits and soft drinks.
This event is a creative way to bring the community together each year to socialize and to enjoy the setting. It is hosted by the Harrison Township Beautification Committee, which operates independently from the municipal government to help with "streetscape" along historic Main Street. Beautification also provides funding for other projects throughout the community that help beautify and enhance the surroundings of our town.
